House of Mannanan
The House of Mannanan is a museum located in Peel on the Isle of Man. The museum is named after the great mythical sea God Mannan and it covers the island’s Celtic, Viking and Maritime history.
You can journey through the reconstruction of a Celtic Roundhouse or join the crew of Odin’s Raven Viking Longship and find out what life was like. There are some magnificent stone crosses dotted around the island and you can listen to some of the stories of the stones at the museum.
Also at the museum, you can explore the 19th-century Peel with a walk around a sailmaker loft, chandler shop and the quayside plus realistic sights and smells from the Manx Kipper yard. You will come face to face with characters that will tell you stories and superstitions from the island’s past all complete with atmospheric sounds, sights and smells that will help immerse you in the island’s history.
