House Of Marbles

House Of Marbles

The House Of Marbles is not just a shop they are a little bit more than that. They are located in Bovey Tracey, Devon and are a unique family-friendly attraction.

What can you do at House Of Marbles?

They are themselves the makers and purveyors of a world-famous range of glass marbles, board games, classic toys, puzzles, pastimes and decorative accessories for the home and garden. They have a large trade and retail presence at their visitor site.

At the site, you can see their glass makers in action. Items in production vary from day to day. They are open every day except Easter Sunday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. There is no entry fee for a visit and no need to book. They also have some fun marble runs that you can set yourself at any time. There are four great designs including possibly the largest permanent marble run structure in the UK, possibly even the world.

There are also three museums you can explore. There is the glass and marble museum where you can explore 4,000 years of history of glass including how it is made. There is also a vast collection of marbles including one of everyone they’ve ever made. In the games museum, you can step back in time and look through their collection of board games. There is also a pottery museum with artefacts, models, muffle kilns and more to see.

Outside in the courtyard garden, you will find a giant floating marble, giant games, a children’s climbing frame and their listed kilns. There is even a marble-playing area. Kids can explore the whole site with a brass rubbing trail which is suitable for 4 years+. £1 will get you some crayons and a keepsake booklet.
