Things to do Ickworth House, Park and Gardens review
Ickworth House is a National Trust property near to Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. The setting is perfect for walks, rambles and bike rides with the option of visiting the house if you want to find out more about its history.
Ickworth House is open to visitors during allocated time slots. It is embarking on a multi-million-pound conservation project and as a result, the massive domed roof is undergoing refurbishment. Inside the house there are activity sheets for the kids which lead you through opulent rooms and down to the servant’s quarters. There are lots of hands-on activities including old wooden games.
Don’t forget to pick up a map of their walking and cycling paths/trails. They even have recommended routes for families which include interesting things to see along the way. These include a church, walled garden, vegetable garden and little touches such as a scarecrow, fairy garden and a wishing well.
There is an adventure playground at Ickworth house. It has slides, swings, an obstacle course and a zip wire. There’s even a trim trail for adults plus a new multi-use trail.

There is a restaurant near the orangery wit hot and cold food and drinks plus other cafes. They can picnic in the grounds.

*Prices are subject to change and/or discounts online. *Mid-range – An adult ticket costs £14.50 without gift aid and £7.25 for a child. Under 5’s are free and you can pay less to just visit the parkland and gardens or in the winter.

Dog friendly?
You may wander freely around the parkland and woods, but dogs are not allowed in the Italianate garden, Walled Garden or inside the buildings (apart from assistance dogs).
