By visiting Jersey Zoo you are helping to save species from extinction in places like Madagascar and Brazil as well as closer to home in Jersey and the UK.
There are a number of mammals at the zoo including lemurs, bears, otters, bush dogs, meerkats and more. Plus orangutan, gorilla and gibbon. They have a great range of birds plus amphibians and reptiles. The zoo was first opened in 1959 and it has a strong focus on breeding threatened species for conservation. Their ethos is to provide more free, -ranging homes for their animals, so you won’t see cramped cages and animals, kept on display for public entertainment.
