Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre

The Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre is located in Macclesfield, Cheshire. It has a number of radio telescopes and the observatory was first established in 1945. It is now home to a visitor centre that covers the history of Jodrell Bank.

There is a Space pavilion for exhibitions and events, a glass-walled cafe with a view of the famous Lovell Telescope and landscaped gardens which include a Galaxy maze. There is an arboretum that is around 35 acres in size with a small-scale model of the Solar System.

The First Light pavilion recently opened and is their new permanent exhibition. Inside you can explore the depths of space in an immersive planetarium experience. The state-of-the-art auditorium offers every visitor an immersive audio-visual experience with a specially commissioned short film about the story of Jodrell Bank. They also have longer 30-minute shows, suitable for stargazers 10+.
