Keighley and Worth Valley Railway

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is a 5-mile branch line railway set in the heart of West Yorkshire. They run both steam trains and diesel trains from Keighley to Oxenhope.

What can you do at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway?

The railway line was established after a civil engineer visited Haworth to pay tribute to Charlotte Bronte. He was surprised to find that Haworth was not served by a railway. The track was agreed upon and completed in 1866 and a public passenger service started in 1867 but the route was abandoned in 1892. A preservation society reopened it as a heritage line in 1968 and the line is now a major tourist attraction.

The KWVR is the only complete heritage railway in the UK to be preserved and operating. Haworth is the largest station and goods yard on the railway. It serves the famous village that was once home to the Bronte sisters. There is a new playground at Oxenhope and two museums at Ingrow station including the Ingrow Museum of Rail Travel.

They host a number of family-friendly events, throughout the year and they also host workshop tours. events, including a 1940s weekend, a Railway Children celebration, Santa and more. The train visits the following stations: Oxenhope, Haworth, Oakworth, Damems, Ingrow West and Keighley. Some of the stops are by request.
