Museum Overview
The Kelvingrove Museum first opened in 1901 and it is located in a lovely green space in Glasgow, Scotland. It is a stunning building and is a family-friendly place to visit with 22 galleries to discover.
The museum is one of Scotland’s most popular free attractions. There are extensive and significant collections including natural history, arms and armour, artworks and items from different periods of history. Make sure you see Sir Roger who is the museum’s Asian elephant.
They even have a work of art by Salvador Dali plus other important artwork by Monet, Gaugin and Renoir. Plus you can see a Spitfire plane that hangs from the ceiling. The museum was refurbished over 3 years and completed in 2006. Its displays have been designed with children in mind. Kids will especially love the walk through a box with rainforest sounds and pictures of rainforest animals, on the floor.
