Kennet Horse Boat Company
Attraction Overview
The Kennet Horse Boat Company is located in Kintbury near Hungerford, Berkshire. They offer public horse-drawn trips on the Kennet and Avon canals that last from 2 to 3 hours.
Their public boat trips have space for up to 64 passengers. It is best to prebook to avoid disappointment although you can hop on if they have spare seats. They operate seven days a week from Easter to the end of September and they run a variable timetable that fits around their private charter bookings.
The late Queen reopened the Kennet and Avon Canal in 1990 after extensive clearing and refurbishment. It runs through some spectacular scenery and it is certainly a relaxing way to view the scenery while being pulled along by a shire horse.
They even have self-drive narrowboats that are available to hire. These are ideal for a birthday treat and make a great day out with your family. It is straightforward to steer with single lever controls and a quiet modern diesel engine.
