Things to do at Kingston Lacy

You can visit the lavish family home that was reimagined as a Venetian Palace. The house is home to one of the UK’s finest private collections of paintings plus some magnificent sculptures, bespoke furniture and Egyptian artefacts. Rooms you will see include the library. drawing room, dining room and Spanish room. Plus the saloon, state bedroom, upper floors and attics, the servant’s hall and more.

There are acres of parkland to explore that are grazed by the pedigree Red Ruby Devon cattle and rare breed Portland Sheep. Nearer to the house there are two play areas. One is a natural play area in the woodland and the second is in the Kitchen Garden. Both include a variety of features including accessible play. You can also explore a classic English garden and a heathland.

They often run family-friendly events, such as trails and there is a children’s trail booklet which they can take around the house. Their woodland trail is 2.9 miles long and is both a walking and cycling trail, perfect for families.
