La Hougue Bie Museum

Museum Overview

La Hougue Bie Museum is located near Grouville on the Channel Island of Jersey. It is located on a historic site and is said to be a thought-provoking and peaceful experience.

The site features one of Europe’s finest passage graves where you can learn about Jersey’s Neolithic community that lived on the island around 6,000 years ago. It is one of the ten oldest buildings in the world. Today you can stand inside the chamber and feel the atmosphere of this profoundly sacred place.

Around this compact site, you will discover life in Jersey throughout its history. There is also a concrete bunker from the German Occupation that today tells the story of the plight of the thousands of forced workers that were brought to Jersey. Plus there is a Neolithic Longhouse that has been built entirely by volunteers. The team used traditional methods and techniques and there is also a chapel.
