Things to do at Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre review

Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre in Lowther / Ashkam, north lakes of Cumbria is located next to Lowther castle. In the castle’s walled garden the sanctuary is home to around 150 birds including falcons, buzzards, kites, owls, eagles and more. They have native birds and birds from overseas. If you are visiting it is worth combining with a visit to Lowther castle and making a full day of it.

They have a large number of aviaries you can walk around. As well as being a rescue and rehabilitation centre they also have a breeding program so sometimes you may be able to see some chicks.

Their main display of the day usually happens around 2 pm. This lasts for around 2 hours so it’s worth timing your visit, check ahead to make sure what time their display will start. They do ask some people from the audience to take part. The birds are flown in most weather conditions (although not extreme weather).

Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places still require you to pre-book online in advance.
