Lakeland Motor Museum

Museum Overview

The Lakeland Motor Museum is located near Backbarrow in Cumbria. It has a unique collection of 30000 exhibits including classic cars, motorcycles, scooters and bicycles. Their collection traces the development of road transport throughout the twentieth century. The museum is housed in a converted mill in the heart of the Lake District, just minutes from Lake Windermere.

There are over 140 classic cars and motorbikes and the museum isn’t just about cars. The entire collection is presented in a social context with a host of rarities to awaken some special motoring memories. Many of their displays include realistic mannequins.

Inside you can take a trip down memory lane and immerse yourselves in recreated scenes. These include a 1920s garage, a 1950s cafe, period shop displays, historic female fashion and more. They even have some examples of iconic caravans.
