Levens Hall

Levens Hall

Levens Hall is located at the gateway to the Lake District National Park 5 miles south of Kendal in Cumbria. Much of the present building dates from the Elizabethan era with further additions from the 19th century. Inside you can explore some of the house and its fascinating history. You can find out how each generation has left its mark on the building and see the collections of furniture, clocks, paintings and more.

The gardens feature the world’s oldest Topiary garden. What awaits you behind a high stone wall and a small wooden gate has remained largely unchanged since the 17th century. There are 10 acres of gardens with many original features.

You can also visit the wider estate including the deer park. This has marked public footpaths through the privately-owned Levens Deer Park. Visitors must stay on the footpaths and keep their dogs on a lead at all times. The park is also home to a rare breed of Bagot goats.
