Lilidorei at the Alnwick Garden
The highly anticipated outdoor play area of Lilidorei at the Alnwick Garden in Northumberland is NOW OPEN. It is home to the world’s largest play structure. Lilidorei is the creative vision of The Duchess of Northumberland and children are encouraged to use their imaginations as they explore the one-of-a-kind magical village. There are nine clans who reside there and they worship Christmas all year round. This comes to life with Christmas trees and lighting, Christmas bells, Santa’s sleigh and an Elf clan house.
What is there to do at Lilidorei?
There are two areas to discover at Lilidorei. There is the clan village and the main play structure. In front of these, there is a grass area with some benches. At the back of the area, there are more tables with somewhere you can purchase food and drinks. Clan houses include Goblins, Hobgoblins, Trolls, Dwarves, Fairies, Sprites, Pixies and Elves, who are all overseen by the Squiffles.
Everything is enclosed within a large separate space to Alnwick Garden. As soon as you arrive you experience magical sounds and as you explore deeper there are lights and a host of sound effects plus some smoke in places to add to the atmosphere. It truly is a magical place and like nowhere we have ever visited before.
Around the clan’s village, you can peer into the windows of their houses and ring their doorbells to hear different sound effects. There is also interactive storytelling from the Story Keepers who will help you make a wish in their wishing tree and so much more. The play structure itself is huge and 2 hours of play time was not enough for my 9-year-old. He loved everything about it from the long windy tube slides to the huge number of walkways and bridges, to the obstacles and bouncing mushrooms that make a noise when you jump on them.
There are smaller slides for younger children and they can access all the walkways. Adults can join in with their children, although you will have to duck and crawl in places and adults can even fit down the fun slides. The play structure has six slides; four tube slides, two open spiral slides, one sliding rail and one fireman pole. Plus some swings, an obstacle course and wobbly reindeer you can sit on. Everyone must book into a Lilidorei play session because space is strictly limited. Each session lasts a total of 2 hours and 45 minutes. You are welcome to arrive at any point but you must leave at the end of your booked time slot.at any point but we are afraid that you must leave at the end of your booked time slot
