Little Moreton Hall
Little Moreton Hall is a National Trust property located in Congleton, Cheshire. It is an iconic half-timbered Tudor manor house with a moat and a knot garden. The earlier parts of the house were built around 1504 and later parts were constructed in stages until about 1610.
The building is certainly characterful as it is highly irregular with all manner of differently shaped walls and is said to have been ‘lifted straight from a fairy story, a gingerbread house’. A visit to the hall will take your breath away with its wonky angles and quirky character. It is a remarkable survivor.
See how many fish you can spot during your visit as their moat is full of them. Once you’ve explored the house you can take a look around the gardens and find herbs and vegetables that the Tudors would have used for their cooking and medicines.
