Lynton and Barnstaple Railway
The Lynton and Barnstaple railway is a volunteer-run train service located in the area of Parracombe in Devon. The trains run through lush Exmoor countryside and they are the only steam railway in the UK where passengers travel in Victorian railway carriages designed in the 1890s.
What is there to do at Lynton and Barnstaple Railway?
Originally opened in 1898 the line was later closed in 1935. It was then later reopened and runs today as a tourist heritage train. You board at Woody Bay Station and travel to Killington Lane and back on a two-mile round trip behind a narrow-gauge steam locomotive.
The trip lasts around 25 minutes and tickets are valid all day so you can ride as many times as you like. Trains currently operate between Woody Bay Station and Killington Lane Halt. Their trains to Barnstaple are currently suspended while they carry out further reconstruction of the railway.
