Mablethorpe Sand Train

Mablethorpe Sand Train

No trip to Mablethorpe on the Lincolnshire coastline would be complete without a ride on their sand train. Sure, there are a lot of land trains all across the UK and as fun as they are I have no plans to include them as a separate post on this website. The sand train is a different matter though and it more than deserves its own post.

The train has been operating since 1952. It’s not a train that runs on a track instead it gives pleasure rides up and down Mablethorpe’s north beach. There is also a land train but this operates on the roads. This operates on the sand and on the return journey you are even driven through the sea.

The train runs from the main beach in Mablethorpe and then north to the Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary with a few stops along the way. A full round trip takes about 20 minutes.
