Mappleton Beach

Mappleton Beach

Mappleton Beach is located close to Hornsea in East Yorkshire. When the tide is out there is a beautiful and vast stretch of sandy beach.

Mappleton Beach Review

There is a small car park a short walk from the beach. This can be very popular, especially in the summer. The beach was once used by the military and there are unexploded bombs but no one has ever been hurt by one and it certainly doesn’t put off the visitors. Those found have been uncovered by coastal erosion so are easy to spot.

The beach is popular with dog walkers. Do check the tide times if you decide to go for a walk so that you don’t get cut off. The beach is also popular with fossil hunters. We found around 5 in 20 minutes which for non-experts like ourselves is pretty good going.

Access down to the beach is possible with a wheelchair and a pushchair. The slope down is not too tasking. If you head right the beach is more sandy and to the left more pebbly. It’s not a rock-pooling beach but we did see a crab. The beach does not have a lifeguard.
