Museum Overview
The Merseyside Maritime Museum is located in the centre of Liverpool, Merseyside. It is also home to the International Slavery Museum. The Maritime Museum is situated at the heart of Liverpool’s historic waterfront in the Royal Albert Dock.
There are a number of exhibitions with permanent displays including Titanic and Liverpool: The Untold Story. This is a fascinating journey through many little-known aspects of the Titanic disaster. You can explore Liverpool’s central role in the Titanic story with personal stories and more.
In the Life on Board gallery, you can discover stories of Liverpool’s seafarers and passengers. In the Seized! gallery you will enter the world of the Customs officer and discover a dark and unseen world of smuggling, intrigue and danger.
The museum also runs guided tours underneath LiverpoolONE. The world’s first commercial enclosed wet dock was revealed in 2001 and today you can see a large portion of this via guided tours. Each tour lasts up to an hour and they are available Wednesdays, Fridays and every other Thursday and Saturday. There is a charge for this tour.
