Messingham Zoo
Messingham Zoo is a small family fun zoo with its primary aim being to offer something different to larger zoos and wildlife parks by focussing on close-up encounters with smaller, friendlier animals. Education is a big part of what they deliver and they want to teach families about animal care and welfare.
Things to do at Messingham Zoo
The zoo is still being established but most of their animals are now on display. They are adding all the time though. Animals include meerkats, prairie dogs, raccoons, arctic foxes, porcupines and skunks. Plus emu, wallabies, tortoises, coati, giant rabbits and more. Soon they will be offering photographs with some of their animals, as a memento of the day in a purpose-built photographic studio (additional cost).
They also offer animal experiences at an additional cost. These range in price from £25 for half an hour with one animal to 2 animals, for an hour at £45. Please see their Facebook page for available packages. They can also host children’s parties starting at £10 a head. There is a relatively new small play area with sandpits, an assault course and a mini castle.
