Mont Orgueil Castle

Mont Orgueil Castle

Mont Orgueil Castle, also known as Gorey Castle, is located in Gorey on the Channel Island of Jersey. The castle has cast its imposing shadow over the beautiful fishing port of Gorey for more than 800 years.

The castle is today one of the finest examples of a medieval fortress. It is also a symbol of Jersey’s national identity and independent character. There are several art displays in the castle including portraits of The Queen.

There is a network of staircases, towers and secret rooms to discover. You will discover gruesome tales and hidden treasures. Up one of the turrets you will find the medieval wheel of urine and down in the cellar, there is a witchcraft exhibit. You can climb high onto the battlements and enjoy the views of the surrounding hillsides and the distant French coast.
