The Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve is located in Dinnet, Aberdeenshire. It is situated within the Cairngorms National Park and it is a mosaic of wetlands, woods and moors.

It is a magical place to visit for a walk at any time of the year. There are plenty of trails that give you the opportunity to explore the reserve. The reserve covers approximately 1,163 hectares and has a wide range of habitats and wildlife.

You can visit the ‘Vat’ which is a giant pothole carved by a huge meltwater stream during the last Ice Age. There are woodlands to wander through or you can explore the reserve’s history by visiting the carved Pictish stone Kinnord cross or searching for the traces of the Iron Age village. There are four main signposted trails that you can choose from.
