Murton Park

Murton Park

Murton Park is located near York in North Yorkshire. It is a little-known attraction but has plenty there to keep families entertained.

What is there to do at Murton Park?

Indoors there is the Yorkshire Museum of Farming with authentic rooms from the past and a small soft play area for children aged 5 and under. There is another indoor museum with farm-related toys and displays. Included in your ticket to Murton Park you are also entitled to ride on the Derwent Valley Light Railway which runs on Sundays and most bank holiday Mondays from spring until summer. It’s just a short trip but kids will love it.

Outdoors there are animals, including rabbits, sheep, hens and goats. You can’t feed them but they mostly like to be stroked. There is a small playground with a playhouse and things to swing, climb and slide on. They have a nature trail going around the perimeter of the site with a couple of historical, areas to explore along the way and fun interactive elements such as musical instruments.

There is an excellent Viking village with lots of village houses to look around. Further on from this, you will find a Wild West village again with authentic buildings. I can highly recommend visiting on one of their event days, especially when their historical villages are brought to life by re-enactors.
