The Museum of Cambridge, formerly known as the Cambridge and Country Folk Museum is located in the centre of the city. It is housed in the former White Horse Inn which is a Grade II listed 16th-century former public house that closed in 1934.
Their collection comprises over 20,000 objects that reflect the social history of Cambridge and the local area. The collection is varied from Giant’s boots to nutcrackers and from vacuum cleaners to folklore objects. The museum recently celebrated its 80th anniversary.
Displays focus on crafts and trades, toys and games. There is even a recreation of a Victorian home and a pub scene. There are temporary exhibits throughout the year and they run a series of educational programs for young people.
