The Miners’ library was set up by the miners themselves. The collection has been recognised as a collection of status by the Scottish Government. In the visitor centre, you can see a fantastic display of minerals, gold, mining and local artefacts. You can even try your luck at finding some of your own gold. Their friendly guides will teach you the basics of gold panning. Gold panning licenses are available from reception along with the gold panning equipment.
