National Glass Centre
The National Glass Centre is located in Roker near Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. It is a cultural venue and visitor attraction which is part of the University of Sunderland. On-site you can see free glass-blowing demonstrations. You will experience the heat of their 1,000-degree furnace and watch their team of glass makers create stunning pieces before your eyes.
There is flameworking twice a day all week except for Tuesdays and Sundays. Glass blowing 3 times a day every day and more. They also host a number of family-friendly events such as artist sessions for little ones, glass painting, glass fusing and more.
The centre also has a permanent interactive exhibition which tells the story of Sunderland’s rich heritage of glass-making that dates back to 674AD.
