Things to do at the National Justice museum review

The National Justice museum is located in the heart of the city of Nottingham. It is based in the former Victorian courts, County Goal and police station at the historic Lace Market. The courtrooms date back to the 14th Century and the goal to at least 1449. At the museum you can also discover a hidden world beneath your feet in the city’s caves.

The crime gallery includes a range of family-friendly activities and interactive exhibits. Plus you can see the actual dock from Bow Street Magistrates Court. There is even an exhibition about children and young offenders in prison. It examines the history from the 18th century to the current day. You will find out how children have been and are punished. The museum also contains original dungeons and prison cells plus other contemporary galleries.

Under the city lies a labyrinth of caves and you can book a daytime admission including an audio tour. These caves date back to the dark ages and you can learn about the events, that once happened inside these fascinating underground dwellings. You will see the only medieval underground tannery in the country plus an Anderson air-raid shelter and remnants of Drury Hill Victorian slums.
