National Museum of Computing

Museum Overview

The National Museum of Computing is home to the world’s largest collection of working historic computers. They are located on the site of Bletchley Park but are an attraction in their own right. They can be found in Bletchley, Buckinghamshire.

At the museum, you can follow the development of computing from the 1940s right through to the rise of personal computing and the internet. They are recognised as one of England’s top 100 ‘irreplaceable places’. To visit the museum you want to enter through the main Bletchley Park entrance and then walk or drive left beyond the main car parks to their separate entrance at the top of the park.

Galleries include Breaking Enigma which is a reconstruction of one of the most famous wartime machines. In the Tunny Gallery, you can discover more about the WWII code-breaking process. There is also a world-famous rebuild of the first electronic computer, Colossus. You can learn about how computer games have changed the personal computer and look behind the scenes at air traffic control plus many other galleries.
