National Waterways Museum Gloucester
Museum Overview
The National Waterways Museum Gloucester is located in the Docks area of the city. It is housed in a Victorian warehouse along the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal and River Severn.
The museum will take you on a journey that charters the 200-year history of the docks and the canal. It has been rebranded thanks to funding and features interactive exhibitions. In season they run 45-minute boat trips along the canal. These run from April until early autumn from Tuesday to Saturday.
There are over 15,000 objects in their collection including over 50 boats. They have a wide range of items on display including many of the boats, tools, models, personal items and more. The galleries have some hands-on displays and a few traditional exhibits. Many tell the stories of the people who lived and worked on the docks.
