The Navan Centre and Fort are located near Armagh in County Armagh. It is an ancient ceremonial monument that according to tradition was one of the great royal sites of pre-Christian Gaelic Ireland and the capital of the Ulaidh.

It is one of Ireland’s most famous and important archaeological sites where myth and reality meet. You can experience life over 2,000 years ago as you walk in the footsteps of warriors. Your guide will explain how and why this impressive ceremonial structure was built.

You will learn more about Iron Age life as you meet the resident Celtic clan and view their period dwelling. This is available from April until September. There is an indoor and outdoor Archaeology Discovery space which is great for younger visitors and there is an Ecology trail which helps you to truly appreciate the diversity of the wildlife.

There is an audio-visual show which brings the myths and legends of the Ulster cycle to life. You can also see some of the artefacts that were found within the Navan complex of sites. Children can dress up in Celtic costumes and there is an outdoor activity area.
