Newark Air Museum
Museum Overview
This is a large museum which is run as a charity. Located on Winthorpe Showground a former World War II training base and opened back in 1973 it is now home to a wide range of over 70 aircraft and cockpits which you can see located around a series of hangars, buildings and also outside. As well as its range of aircraft there is also a series of exhibitions, which includes some interactive and hands-on exhibits which kids will enjoy.
This is a great museum for anyone who loves aircraft with lots to see and look at. It is not for everyone though and although our toddler loved it and enjoyed exploring I don’t think he would be as enthusiastic now he is older.
Sometimes they hold cockpit opening days which means you can have a really good look around some of the planes by climbing in them yourselves. A lot of people make the visit due to it being home to the popular Vulcan aircraft.
