Nunney Castle

Nunney Castle

Nunney Castle is an English Heritage property located in Nunney near Frome, Somerset. It is a medieval picturesque moated castle which was built in the late 14th century.

The castle was built by Sir John Delamare who was a local knight who profited from the Hundred Years War. It was modernised in the late 16th century but then besieged and damaged by the Parliamentarians in 1645 during the English Civil War.

It is now a ruin although still a dramatic castle whose great tower is well preserved. You can also still see its four round corner towers and connecting walls.
