Oxburgh Hall

Oxburgh Hall is a National Trust property in Oxborough, Norfolk. It is a moated country house that was built for Sir Edmund Bedingfield in the 15th century. It is an example of a late medieval house and has many different features. The hall is well known for its priest hole.

Things to see and do at Oxburgh Hall

The original gardens have long since disappeared however you can see today their footprint and wander around the visually striking Parterre. There is a walled garden and less formal areas including the Wilderness and My Lady’s Wood. There is plenty of opportunities for kids to burn off some energy and there are opportunities for den building in the woods. There is no formal playground at Oxburgh Hall but the house and gardens are still popular with families. The River Gadder in My Lady’s Wood is a perfect spot for playing Pooh sticks.

In the house, you will find portraits, treasured objects and opulent rooms. Although the family still lives there today there are rooms you can look around including the dining room, library, saloon and drawing room. You can even climb down the Priest’s hole and there’s a chapel you can look around.

There is a tea room serving hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

A historic house you can explore, formal gardens and parkland including woods, pooh sticks and den building. There are toilets and a tea room.

What are the ticket prices?

Free for members of the National Trust. An adult standard ticket costs £12.00, children £6.00 and under 5 are free. Other pricing options including family tickets are available.
