Oxford Island Nature Reserve
Oxford Island Nature Reserve is located near Craigavon in County Armagh. It is situated on the southern shore of Lough Neagh and the site covers 282 acres. Around the site, there is a network of all-access walking trails with bird-watching hides.
There is also a Discovery Centre, a marina and the Kinnego bushcraft centre. This bushcraft centre offers courses and programmes on the practical skills of camp craft, shelter building, fire making and more. Families are more than welcome and they also run junior expeditions.
The reserve is a haven for wildlife and in addition to its walking trails, they also have two playparks for children to enjoy. There is a map available with the trails and points of interest included. They run a number of annual events including seasonal, scavenger hunt activity sheets.
A brand new, state-of-the-art, bespoke and truly unique play park has been created at Oxford Island. This play park is a marvel and overlooks the stunning Lough Neagh while blending into the beauty of the forest surroundings. Nature combines with play to bring about a whole new experience for children.
You will find the traditional pieces of equipment including swings, slides and roundabouts as well as multi-feature wooden beams, mounds to climb, clamber stacks, bridges, rope climbing, sliding poles, lower-level trampolines, stepping stones, tunnels, interactive panels and so much more. The ground looks like a forest floor while a local artist has hand-painted original features throughout the park to the exact colourings of life on Oxford Island.
