Pickering Park Hull
Pickering Park is located 3 miles outside of the city centre of Hull, East Yorkshire. It is a council-run park of around 26 acres. The park has ornamental and sensory gardens and facilities for families.
What can you do at Pickering Park Hull?
The park was first opened in 1911 and was commissioned by Christopher Pickering for his wife. He made his fortune as a merchant and a shipowner. The park still has its magnificent iron gates at the entrance.
There is a paddling pool that is usually open during the school summer holidays. There is also a playground with swings, a spinning bowl and an activity centre (climbing frame with slide). The park also has an outdoor gym and a permanent orienteering route.
Other facilities include four football pitches and an 80 peg lake for fishing. The refurbishment of the old aviary is now complete and the new Small Animal Centre will be opening very soon. Summer 2021 saw the introduction of a Land Train ride within Pickering Park. For £1 per person, the round trip takes in the Rose Garden along with other areas of the park that you might not normally have seen. They are also hoping to introduce pedalos.
