Pickford’s House is a museum in the centre of Derby, Derbyshire. It is a unique museum set in the Georgian home of the Enlightenment architect Joseph Pickford. It now contains period rooms that illustrate domestic life from the 18th to the 20th centuries.

What can you do at Pickford’s House Museum Derby?

Rooms you can see include a Drawing room, Dining room, master bedroom and the kitchen with scullery. There is also an impression of life down below the stairs by peering into the cellars on the lower ground floor. This has been set out to look like air-raid shelters from the Second World War.

As well as the period rooms there are gardens that are set out using plans drawn from the middle of the 19th century. On the top floor, there is a magical room that is home to a selection of toy and model theatres from the Frank Bradley Collection. Children can play in the free, -standing puppet theatre and let their imaginations run free.
