Pontcysyllte Aqueduct Visitor Centre

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct Visitor Centre

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct Visitor Centre is located in Trevor, near Wrexham, North Wales. The centre is a great first stop for visitors to the area to find out more about family days and what there is to do.

Both the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and 11 miles of the Llangollen Canal are designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites. The aqueduct is one of the most awesome engineering feats on the canal network. You can walk across the aqueduct or take a boat ride over to the other side. The aqueduct is a staggering 38m high so this isn’t for anyone that suffers from vertigo.

The visitor centre is free, to visit and features models, videos and local information and there is a shop. You can take a boat ride via Anglo Welsh or Llangollen Wharf. You can book canal boat trips, horse-drawn boats or even canoe tours. There are a number of trails in the local area including the Offa’s Dyke trail which runs through the site. There is an explorer’s aqueduct adventure trail and a canoe trail. It’s a great place to spot wildlife, especially ducks so make sure you take them some duck-friendly food or you can purchase a bag from the visitor centre.
