Pontypool Park
Pontypool Park is located in the heart of Pontypool in Monmouthshire, South Wales. It is known locally as the People’s Park and covers some 64 hectares with several historical features. These include Italian gardens, Ice Houses and a fantastic Shell Grotto. These features have all been restored thanks to a Grant and funding.
There is also a link from the park, through adjacent farmland to a Folly Tower. Access is via a public footpath. Other facilities on-site at the park include a children’s play area, a rugby pitch, tennis courts and pitch and putt. There is also a dry ski slope and bowls.
The park is also home to the Gorsedd Stone Circle. This was erected in 1923 and it is known as the Circle of Sacred Refuge and the stones themselves are called sacred stones and stones of testimony. The dry ski slope has a main slope of 230 metres. There is also a beginners area, a ski lift and a mogul run.
