RAF Air Defence Radar Museum
The RAF Air Defence Radar Museum is located on the site of the former RAF radar control base at RAF Neatishead, Norfolk. It is housed entirely in old RAF buildings including the original Grade II listed 1942 radar operations building.
Inside you will be able to see the country’s only original Cold War Operations Room which formed a critical link in the RAF’s command and control system following WWII. You will find out how air defence operations were carried out during those tense and dangerous times as the RAF faces the ever-present threat of a nuclear war.
The museum is volunteer-run and has won awards. It is an informative day out for all the family. There are over 20 exhibition rooms and they usually have daily talks in the Second World War room and the Cold War room. Times of these talks are announced over the tannoy throughout the day.
