Rollerworld Derby
Rollerworld Derby is an indoor roller skating arena located close to the centre of Derby. This is where I used to go every Saturday as a teenager! I loved it here! Said to be the UK’s No.1 skating venue it is a great place to get your skates on and join in the fun.
Things to do at Rollerworld Derby
They run a variety of sessions including additional sessions during school holidays, disco sessions, kate night skates with a DJ, Salsa classes, family nights, beginner sessions and more.
The skating area is big and it has the biggest maple floored rink in the UK. Luckily it’s not how it was back when I used to go as it has had a recent £120k refurb which saw new carpets, air-con, a new sound system, lighting rig and more. There are barriers almost all the way around and there is even a smaller area for kids first learning to roller skate away from the fast-moving pace of the larger rink.
When there is a DJ in session they often host games on the rink with prizes. This is something that hasn’t changed since I was a kid. They also sometimes put a ramp on the rink so you can have a go at jumps. You can take your own skates or they have lots available to hire for a small fee. They can also host your child’s birthday party.
