Rouken Glen Park
Rouken Glen Park is located in East Renfrewshire, southwest of Glasgow, Scotland. The park’s name is taken from the old Rock End Meal Mill in the glen which dates back to the early 16th century. You can see the remains of the meal mill at the foot of the waterfall in the park.
The park has a boating pond which was first created in 1923. There is also a walled garden which is situated in the grounds of the former manor house, Thornliebank House which was demolished in 1965. The park is 143 acres in size and it is a great place to go for a walk with a number of paths allowing visitors to explore.
There is a skate park which is suitable for skateboarding, BMX and inline skating. There are picnic areas within the park but BBQs are not permitted. They also have tennis courts and you can hire bats and balls for free. You can also hire bats and balls for table tennis and the park has a small basketball court located next to the skate park.
The park has an 11-piece outdoor gym which is available for public use. In the summer there is a bouncy castle which is in the play park. The children’s play area has seen quite a few recent improvements.
