RSPB Barons Haugh

The RSPB Scotland Baron’s Haugh Nature Reserve is located near Motherwell, Lanarkshire. It is an important community nature reserve and it is a real gem for wildlife and for visitors.

Around the site, there are four bird hides where you can spot ducks, swans and other wildlife on the haugh, or you can enjoy a walk through their woodland. The reserve is primarily made up of different wetland habitats. These are rich with birds, amphibians and insects. Grasslands cover a good chunk of the site and this is managed with grazing livestock.

They run a series of nature-themed events for families as well as self-led activities at the reserve. There are a couple of walking trails that take you to the wildlife viewing sites. Please note there are no on-site facilities (no cafe, visitor centre, toilets etc).
