RSPB Titchwell Marsh

RSPB Titchwell Marsh is a nature reserve located near Titchwell, Norfolk. It is located on the north coast and it has a diverse range of habitats including reedbeds, saltmarsh and freshwater lagoons popular with many bird species. There is also a wide sandy beach here which enjoys extensive views across The Wash.

Titchwell is renowned for its wading birds, wildfowl and geese. These gather in significant numbers from mid-autumn onwards. An easy walk takes you from the car park through woodland glades to the visitor centre and cafe. From here you can choose two paths.

There is the West Bank trail that leads you across wild landscapes and onto Titchwell’s vast and undeveloped beach. At low tide there are areas of petrified forest and remnants from the Second World War are exposed. On the East trail, you will pass quiet pools and at the right time of year vistas of wildflowers and gorse. This area is popular with the reserve’s raptors.

For children, there are self-led trails which will inspire curiosity and you can rent out one of their backpacks. There are pushchair-friendly paths and easily accessible hides where you can take your binoculars and enjoy some bird spotting. During the school holidays, they run family-friendly hands-on activities, workshops and bushcraft days.
