Rudyard Lake Steam Railway

Rudyard Lake Steam Railway

Rudyard Lake Steam Railway is located alongside Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire. It is a 10.25-inch gauge Victorian-style railway. The railway is located at the Rudyard station just outside of Leek not far from Alton Towers. The train has covered coaches and will run whatever the weather. Most days they operate steam engines but they may sometimes have to run a diesel engine.

You will be taken on a three-mile return trip along the side of the lake. You can break your journey up if you wish and they host special events, throughout the year. Trains run every Saturday and Sunday from March to the start of November and Bank Holidays plus midweek in school holidays.

You can also explore the lake on foot which covers some 168 acres and is over 2.5 miles long. There are boat trips and you can hire canoes and rowing boats. You can enjoy cycling and walking and the walk around the lake is about five miles long and it divides into two parts. The boat trips run on Saturdays and Sundays weather permitting. They are £6 for an adult and £3 for children.
