Sheldon Country Park

Sheldon Country Park

Sheldon Country Park is located in Sheldon, West Midlands. It is located at the far eastern edge of the city of Birmingham and it covers an area of just over 300 acres. The park is made up of grassland, wetland, hedgerows and mature woodland.

The park is seen as a great example of ‘countryside in the city’ with trees, flowers and a farm right next to a busy airport. The 17th-century Old Rectory farm has been restored and now functions as a Demonstration Farm showcasing traditional methods of farming. It is free and it is open all year with cattle, pigs, goats, geese and ponies.

As the park sits alongside Birmingham International Airport there is also a viewing point onto the runway. It lies just under a mile away from the farm buildings and can only be accessed on foot. There is also a children’s playground next to the farm and a hard-surfaced nature trail suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
