Things to do at Sherwood Pines Forest Park

On the main walking trail, you will find adventure playgrounds for the kids. There’s imaginative play with wooden houses and big wooden chairs. Near the visitor centre, the playground has wooden walkways, turrets and sand play with buckets on pullies. If you head further into the woods you will find a big net to climb on, more imaginative play and a big climbing area more suited to older children. Or just some great big puddles to jump in!

Also on the main walking trail, you will come across a replica of the trenches from WWII. “It’s a life-size recreation of a trenches system that visitors can explore. Climb down into the system and investigate the machine gun nests, fox-hole and wealth of information on display.” My son always enjoys exploring this.

You can also enjoy bushcraft activities and orienteering. More often than not Sherwood Pines has a special trail for children. For extra activities that you would have to pay for there is a Go-Ape course, forest segway,
