Things to do at Sherwood Pines Forest Park review

It is free, to visit Sherwood Pines forest park but do be aware that if you are visiting by car you do have to pay to park. Sherwood Pines is a vast and very pretty forest with 2 walking trails and 3 cycling trails. It’s the perfect place to get some fresh air!

On the main walking trail, you will find adventure playgrounds for the kids. There’s imaginative play with wooden houses and big wooden chairs. Near the visitor centre, the playground has wooden walkways, turrets and sand play with buckets on pullies. If you head further into the woods you will find a big net to climb on, more imaginative play and a big climbing area more suited to older children. Or just some great big puddles to jump in!

Also on the main walking trail, you will come across a replica of the trenches from WWII. “It’s a life-size recreation of a trenches system that visitors can explore. Climb down into the system and investigate the machine gun nests, fox-hole and wealth of information on display.” My son always enjoys exploring this.

You can also enjoy bushcraft activities and orienteering. More often than not Sherwood Pines has a trail for children on. Currently, it is the Gruffalo Spotters II trail. For extra activities that you would have to pay for there is a Go-Ape course, forest segway,
