Sir Harold Hillier Gardens

Sir Harold Hillier Gardens

Sir Harold Hillier Gardens is located near Romsey, Hampshire. The gardens include an arboretum of around 72 hectares with over 42,000 trees and shrubs.

There are a number of different areas in the gardens including Acer Valley with Japanese and other maple trees, a Bog garden with bamboo, the longest double mixed border in the country and a champion tree collection. There is a heather garden, a Gurkha memorial garden, a Himalayan valley and a raised wooden boardwalk that takes you through a tunnel of huge Gunnera leaves.

Certain areas truly come alive at certain times of the year including Magnolia Avenue, Peony border and Hydrangea Walk. Children will love playing on their tree house with a flying carpet and super snake swings plus a wobbly bridge and more.

Children will also enjoy their Children’s Education Garden with ponds filled with aquatic life, bird feeders, bird boxed with cameras and musical bamboo. There is also a timber play area which is great for climbing and testing their balance. You might even spot some pigs in the woodland, although they are not always there.
