Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway
The Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway is located in Sittingbourne, Kent. It is a 2ft 6 in narrow gauge heritage railway that operates from Sittingbourne to the banks of the Swale.
The line was first built in 1905 for the transportation of raw materials that were required for the manufacture of paper. Today they still use steam engines and other rolling stock that were supplied to operate the railway during its working life. There are not many railways that can claim that they operate using the original engines.
There is a picnic area with an outdoor play area for children plus their on-site cafe. If you fancy going for a walk there is a path which can take you to Milton Creek Country Park or Sittingbourne. The park is worth a visit and you can view trains as they pass by. They also run a number of family-friendly events.
