Sma Shott Cottages

Sma Shott Cottages

The Sma’ Shott Cottages are located in Paisley, Renfrewshire. They are a tourist attraction of historical significance that offers an insight into two distinct periods of Paisley’s textile history.

As soon as you enter Shuttle Street you will be immediately taken back to the 18th century. There is a typical weaver’s cottage that was originally built in the 1750s. You will be taken around by a local guide who will provide you with a fascinating insight into how a typical weaving family lived and worked.

Inside the cottage, there are original weaving looms and you can learn about the origins of the Sma’ Shot Day celebrations which are held in July every year. Across the yard, there is the house of a foreman who worked at a nearby mill in the 19th century. In the house, you can see the kitchen and living area, bedroom, children’s room and parlour which have been decorated to represent various time periods from the late 19th through to the early 20th century.
