Solway Aviation Museum

Museum Overview

The Solway Aviation Museum is based at Carlisle Airport in Cumbria. It is home to a collection of aircraft, artefacts and more.

The main draw to the museum is the Vulcan Bomber. Children 7 and over (and adults) can climb inside the cockpit via a ladder. Reserve your time slot when you arrive at the museum.

The museum brings life in the 1940s back to life with display rooms, an air raid shelter and sounds from WWII. In the Carlisle airport room, you can see a realistic mock-up of the airport’s WWII control tower. Plus an interactive touch screen terminal and the chance to ‘fly’ a WWII Spitfigter engine in their simulator (small additional charge).
